AVGERINOS EFTHYMIOS Vascular SurgeonDr. Efthymios (Makis) Avgerinos is a Vascular Surgeon, Professor of Surgery in the Division of Vascular Surgery, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in USA.

He was born in Athens, Greece in 1975. In 2001 he earned his medical degree from the University of Thessaly Medical School (Greece), and in 2006 his Ph.D. from the University of Athens.

In 2011 he completed his residency in Vascular Surgery at the Department of Vascular Surgery of the University of Athens, Greece. During his residency years, he had short clinical fellowships in King's Hospital, London, UK and in Stadtische Kliniken, Frankfurt, Germany.

Dr. Avgerinos got certified by the European Board of Vascular Surgery (FEBVS) in 2012.

Since 2011 and up to 2021 he has been working in USA.

In September 2020 he returned to Greece and he is currently co-Director of the Clinic of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Athens Medical Center and visiting Professor of Vascular Surgery at  the University of Athens.

Dr. Avgerinos has published more than 200 peer reviewed papers and chapters in vascular surgery and his work has been widely cited and recognized with international awards.

He has served in the Executive Councils of the European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS), European Union of Medical Specialties (UEMS) and International Society for Vascular Surgery (ISVS).
