Drug side effects

Many medicines can cause edema, including:

  • Pain killers such as ibuprofen (Advil) and naproxen (Naprosyn)
  • Blood pressure medication such as calcium channel blocker amlodipine (Norvasc)
  • Corticosteroids
  • Medication for diabetes such as rosiglitazone (Avandia)
  • Medication for Parkinson’s disease such as pramipexole (Mirapex)
  • Estrogenic contraceptive pills
